Sealed vs.
Unsealed
PROBLEM: Left untreated, asphalt
pavement will deteriorate rapidly. The asphalt binder that holds the
pavement together begins to oxidize and weather soon after installation.
Moisture penetrates the asphalt causing further damage and deterioration
to the pavement.
SOLUTION: Sealcoating with SealMaster
pavement sealer replenishes the binder that is lost through weathering and
aging, and provides superior protection against environmental
distress.
SealMaster restores the original black
color to asphalt and greatly enhances the overall appearance of your
property.
Professional
Service SealMaster pavement sealers are applied by qualified pavement
maintenance professionals to assure maximum product performance and
customer satisfaction.
A pavement maintenance program that
includes periodic sealcoating and crackfilling will more than double the
service life of asphalt pavement.
SealMaster Product
Specifications: Coal Tar Pavement Sealer
Product Description: A coal
tar emulsion sealer designed to protect and beautify asphalt pavement
surfaces.
Uses: For any
asphalt pavement surface including parking lots, driveways, airports,
roadways, secondary roads, highway shoulders, walkways and
more.
Color: Black
when dry.
Surface Preparation: New
asphalt surfaces should be allowed to cure a minimum of four weeks under
ideal weather conditions before application. Surface must be clean and
free from all loose material, dirt and dust. For ease of application in
hot weather, the surface may be fogged with water prior to
sealing.
Pavement surface repairs should be made with a
suitable hot or cold asphalt mix. Cracks should be filled with SealMaster
Hot Pour or Cold Applied crack fillers. Treat all grease, oil and gasoline
spots or stains with SealMaster Petro Seal or Prep Seal.
Mixing Procedures: For
optimum results, mix SealMaster coal tar pavement sealer in accordance
with the following mix design (based on 100 gallons for ease of
calculation):
|
Coal Tar Pavement
Sealer... Water... Sand... |
100
gallons 30-40 gallons 300-500
lbs. |
Mix materials to a uniform
consistency.
NOTE: A Polymer Latex Additive (such
as Top Tuff or Seal V.M.) may be added at a rate of 1-2% based on
undiluted gallons of Coal Tar Pavement Sealer. Or, Zetac may be added at a
rate of 1-2%.
Application: Two coats
of mixed material are recommended. Apply by squeegee, brush or spray.
Apply second coat in cross direction to the first. Allow first coat of
sealer to dry a minimum of 2 to 4 hours under ideal weather conditions
(above 70 degrees fahrenheit, low humidity) before applying second coat.
Allow longer drying time between coats when temperature is below 70
degrees fahrenheit. A third coat of sealer may be applied in traffic lanes
and high traffic areas for additional wear. Allow a minimum of 8 hours and
preferably 24 hours before parking cars or allowing traffic over the
surface.
Important: Temperatures must be above 50 degrees fahrenheit both during
application and for a period of at least 24 hours after
application.
Coverage: 50 to 70
square feet per gallon for two coats depending on age, pavement porosity,
and method of appication.
Clean Up: Wash
tools in water. Use TarBuster or SolSafe 245 if material has
dried.
Caution: KEEP OUT OF
REACH OF CHILDREN. Do not take internally. If swallowed, call a physician
immediately. In case of contact with eye, flush immediately with water for
15 minutes and call a physician. When not in use, keep containers tightly
closed and upright to prevent leakage. |
